Middle Grade Programs

Junior Achievement has several highly effective programs for middle grade and junior high school students that reinforce the value of education and teach students about the future economic benefits of staying in school. Students will be introduced to many economic concepts and useful facts about the working world.
The Middle Grade programs build on concepts the students learned in Junior
Achievement's Elementary School Program and help teens make difficult
decisions about how to best prepare for their educational and professional
future. The programs supplement standard social studies curricula and
develop communication skills that are essential to success in the business
world.
JA Global Marketplace (recommended for 6th grade)
Students learn practical information about the key aspects of the global
economy, what makes world trade work and how trade affects students’ daily
lives.
JA Economics for Success (recommended for 7th grade)
Students learn practical information about personal finance and the
importance of identifying education and career goals based on students’
skills, interests and values.
JA America Works (recommended for 8th grade)
Students focus on the impact of business and entrepreneurship on the
economic development of the United States during the 1800s. Themes include
immigration, agriculture, transportation, communication and
industrialization.
JA It’s My Business (recommended for grades 6th- 8th during
after-school hours)
Students are engaged in academically enriching and experimental learning
sessions in entrepreneurship education. Four entrepreneurial characteristics
include: fill a need, know your customer, be creative and innovative and
believe in yourself.
Volunteer time commitment is minimal; 6 weekly visits to the
classroom, for approximately 45 minutes each visit. In essence, for just a
few hours per week, volunteers can enrich the life of a child who truly
needs their guidance and example as a positive role model. All JA
volunteers attend an orientation where they receive all of the materials and
lesson plans necessary to conduct the programs.
